Pumicelands Rural Fire District is officially in a restricted fire season.

Total Fire Ban

No fires are allowed in the open except for gas fired BBQs. Any existing fire permits are automatically cancelled.

Fire By Permit Only

You need to have a permit to light a fire but check with your local council or the Department of Conservation for specific conditions concerning camp fires BBQs incinerators and ethnic cooking fires.

Take Care With All Fires

You do not need a permit to light a fire but any fire you do light is your responsibility and your liability if it causes damage or escapes. Only dry vegetation can be burnt refer to our Keeping Safe page.
